BURN
Winner of Best-Writing Honorable Mention, Houston 48-hour Film Festival
Ever heard of a 48-hour film festival?
It’s exactly what it sounds like—teams have just two days to write, shoot, edit, and submit a fully realized short film. It's pure chaos… and ridiculously fun. Think caffeine-fueled all-nighters, last-minute rewrites, technical disasters, and just enough magic to pull something powerful from the wreckage.
One of the projects I’m most proud of from one of these whirlwind weekends is a short film called Burn. It’s a dark, emotional story about a grieving mother who will stop at nothing—even defy death itself—to reclaim her child.
Writing it and being part of the team that brought it to life was an incredible ride. There’s something about the creative pressure cooker of a 48-hour deadline that pulls out raw, unfiltered storytelling—and Burn is one of those stories that still sticks with me.
